Caitlin Bradford is an artist living in Minneapolis. She received a BFA from the University of Iowa in 2015, and an MFA in painting and drawing from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2022. She shows at Tory Folliard Gallery in Milwaukee, WI.

Openness, curiosity, and playing are essential to my practice. The paintings are constructed using various games and rules: these enabling constraints help me discover color combinations and compositions that I couldn’t have come up with otherwise. By giving over some agency, I’m able to be surprised. Using this process, there are an infinite number of choices; I celebrate the choices I make, while mourning the choices not made.

I’m interested in the concepts of imperfection, messiness, and soft geometry. My work explores the grid while considering color, puzzles, games, science fiction, outer space, and mathematics.
